Some Might Say He’s Brave
Then there was the day that Clarabelle decided she wanted to get away from her herd at the farm next door. It was as much a surprise for me as it was for the joeys on our mid-morning walk. Indie as you can see was cautiously curious. But she wasn’t straying more than a meter from mum.
Maxie on the other hand, (at all of 10 months old weighing only 4.2kgs) he thought introductions were in order. He no doubt wanted to know where she came from and why she was eating his grass! So he boldly gave her quite the talking to. Ever wondered what a little kangaroo sounds like when it’s calling out with excitement, or calling for mum? Well listen to this:
A few days later, Clarabelle returned again. Maxie didn’t talk to her this time, he knew that wouldn’t get him anywhere, but he was still sooooo curious. Yes, still making me nervous, but there was an acknowledgment between the two of them and he was satisfied.
Maxie certainly had a mischievous streak in him. I did say that he loved watching the birds, as we all do and like all little kids, he loved racing through a flock of birds to send them all flying!! Every once in a while I see a wild child kangaroo do this on our property, but only chasing after one or two birds. But not Maxie, he took it to a whole new level. I’ve slowed the video down for maximum viewing enjoyment. The wing flap sounds in slow motion are something else. LOL!
I simply had to put this moment in Maxie’s book!
